Templates are usually (but not neceessarily) HTML files that specify the design and layout of a Page.
Every Page has to have a Template assigned, Templates can be assigned to multiple Pages.


Specifies the name of the object
Source file
Specifies the actual source file of the Template
Preview thumbnail
An optional preview thumbnail which will be displayed to Users

Content areas
Specifies which content areas this Template is offering for linking of content 
A list of navigations the Template can display 

Content areas

Templates define the content areas that will be available on a Page. Content areas determine the type (and look) of content that can be displayed on a respective Page.


The Template also defines the possible navigations a Page can be part of. The assignation of a navigation to a Page determines in which navigation the Page is displayed (e.g. main menu, meta menu, ...)
